Happy Thanksgiving!

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/27/2008 01:13:00 PM

The First Thanksgiving
In order to thank God for the First Amendment, which was passed a week earlier by Congress, President George Washington issued the first National Thanksgiving Proclamation, 1789:

Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor-- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war--for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions-- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually--to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord--To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us--and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

(signed) G. Washington

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/26/2008 02:27:00 PM

Authorities said a 24-year-old Lebanon man pled guilty Tuesday to child endangering. Police said Stanley Hall attacked his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter in June, causing life-threatening injuries. The victim was shaken and slammed against a wall, resulting in brain damage and serious physical injuries, police said.

Investigators said the victim’s condition has improved, but it is uncertain as to whether she will ever fully recover.

NY government school is renamed for Barack Hussein Obama

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/24/2008 09:23:00 AM

It was only a matter of time. A New York school has been renamed in honor of President-elect Barack Obama. The former Ludlum Elementary School, in Long Island's Hempstead Union Free School District, was renamed at a school board meeting Thursday - effective immediately.

I've been inspired by this story, my children are now enrolled in the Ronald Reagan Homeschool Academy of Excellence. During restroom breaks they can use the magnificent Barack Hussein Obama Toilet of Hope, constructed with imported Kenyan porcelain.

Joy Behar describes homeschool students as "demented"

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/20/2008 03:52:00 PM

"A lot of them are demented when they’re homeschooled." -- ABC's Joy Behar

Bahar's ignorance is nothing short of amazing. It's clear she has had no contact with any children who are homeschooled, as she echos the long since disproved stereotypes. It really shouldn't be surprising though coming from a former government school indoctrinator. I looked at a report for the government school that she indoctrinated students at and saw that they were below average in one category after another. I'm sure she's proud of the legacy she left there.

The only thing "demented" here are the views of Behar who's glaring ignorance about children who are homeschooled which underscores her amazing talent for demonstrating her abundant stupidity ([1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]).

As for my kids, who my wife and I proudly homeschool, I'm not surprised at all how they are easily surpassing their peers who are indoctrinated in government schools. We spend countless hours with them teaching them all that we can and they soak up every nugget of information we dispense to them. A few weeks ago for example, when the election was a short time away we went over what the Constitution actually says about it. I went over the Electoral College and the reasons behind it, something that they would not have known if we had subjected them to the abuse their peers suffer in government indoctrination centers on a daily basis.

The problem with Bahar's entire argument is that while she is stating that homeschooled kids are not only demented but scared of other kids, she is not only advocating for Barack Hussein Obama's kids to be homeschooled in the White House, but for other kids to be rounded up and brought in to visit and play with them. If this hag Behar considers those who are homeschool to be demented, then how would she describe Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, Douglas MacArthur, George Patton, Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Cyrus McCormick, Orville & Wilbur Wright, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Quincy Adams, James Madison, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Abraham Lincoln, Theordore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, George Washington Carver, Pierre Curie, Albert Einstein, Booker T. Washington, Blaise Pascal, Konrad Adenauer, Winston Churchill, Benjamin Franklin, Patrick Henry, William Penn, Henry Clay, John Jay, John Marshall, and Will Rogers? (Hint: they were all homeschooled.)

Reason # to homeschool.

Fifty people sleep outside to celebrate National Urban Outdoorsman Awareness Week

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/20/2008 03:41:00 PM

Amid grim headlines and bleak economic projections, about 50 advocates for the homeless camped outside in 30-degree weather Wednesday night, Nov. 19, at St. Vincent de Paul Hotel as part of National Homelessness Urban Outdoorsman Awareness Week.

I think Neil Boortz put it best:
I sure would like to be a fly on the wall when some urban outdoorsmen (that would be "homeless person" for those of you who don't want to give these less fortunate people a romantic and adventurous title) came to you and demanded his job and your money.

The people who have been telling you about all the rights you have are simply exercising one of theirs - the right to be imbeciles. Their being imbeciles didn't cost anyone else either property or time. It's their right, and they exercise it brilliantly.

By the way, did you catch my use of the phrase "less fortunate" a bit ago when I was talking about the urban outdoorsmen? That phrase is a favorite of the Left. Think about it, and you'll understand why.

To imply that one person is homeless, destitute, dirty, drunk, spaced out on drugs, unemployable, and generally miserable because he is "less fortunate" is to imply that a successful person - one with a job, a home and a future - is in that position because he or she was "fortunate." The dictionary says that fortunate means "having derived good from an unexpected place." There is nothing unexpected about deriving good from hard work. There is also nothing unexpected about deriving misery from choosing drugs, alcohol, and the street instead of education and personal responsibility.

If the Left can create the common perception that success and failure are simple matters of "fortune" or "luck," then it is easy to promote and justify their various income redistribution schemes. After all, we are just evening out the odds a little bit, aren't we?

By the way, Newsweak's food critic has said that bumsickles taste like chicken.

Rapper confesses to shooting in song

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/20/2008 03:40:00 PM

A Dublin rapper who was convicted in August of shooting a man twice and then sharing a rap song he wrote about the shooting was sentenced on Monday to 40 years. Judge Donny Gillis sentenced Rico Todriquez Wright, 25, on two counts of aggravated assault for shooting Chad Blue, 28, of Dublin. Wright must serve 20 years of his sentence in prison, the rest on probation.

Blue had testified that sometime after the shooting a friend had come to visit him and played a song for him on a CD. "I heard the song." Blue said, "and I recognized Rico's voice. The song was called ‘Hitting Licks for a Living' and there's a line that says 'Chad Blue knows how I shoot'."

South Attleboro (Massachusetts) threatens blind woman over unpaid 1-cent bill

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/19/2008 12:22:00 PM

A 74-year-old blind woman has been told a lien will be put on her South Attleboro home if she doesn't come up with a penny she owes on an outstanding utility bill. Eileen Wilbur, of Glenn Street, said she discovered the notice of the potential lien after her daughter, Rose Brederson, came over to read her mail. "It's so upsetting," Wilbur said. "It sent my blood pressure up so high."

The city sent Wilbur a letter dated Nov. 10 stating that if the 1 cent balance is not paid by Dec. 10, the city will assess a lien of up to $48 on Wilbur's next property tax bill. "They wasted taxpayer money on the letter," Wilbur said, noting the 42-cent charge for a stamp. City Collector Debora Marcoccio said the bill was sent out along with more than 2,000 others as the city tries to recoup outstanding balances before resorting to putting liens on property.

Court upholds "In God We Trust" plates in Indiana

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/19/2008 12:26:00 AM

The Indiana Court of Appeals upheld the constitutionality of the state's "In God We Trust" license plate Monday, rejecting a claim that people who buy the plates should have to pay a $15 administrative fee charged for other specialty plates.

In its 12-page ruling, the appeals court found that state lawmakers acted correctly in creating a license plate classification system that exempts people who buy the "In God We Trust" plate from paying the administrative fee.

The court found that the General Assembly's license plate system "is reasonably related to the inherent characteristics of the license plates."

In a statement on the ruling, Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter said that "In God We Trust" — the motto found on U.S. currency — "has found deep support among our fellow citizens."

How Barack Hussein Obama got elected

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/19/2008 12:25:00 AM

Zogby Poll
512 Obama Voters 11/13/08-11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 points

97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates

Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions

57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)

81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)

82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)

88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)

56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).

And yet.....

Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes

Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter

And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her "house," even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!

Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.

Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we "gave" one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey)

...And so goes another chapter in the Can't Fix Stupid saga.

Illustrating absurdity by being absurd

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/16/2008 08:33:00 PM

Friday, the Dayton Daily News published an article entitled "'Joe the Plumber' legislation in the works" in which they describe legislation proposed by State Rep. Shannon Jones (R - Springboro) which would "seek to make sure that citizens' private information is kept only for legitimate government purposes, that there are sound procedures in place to protect the information and real accountability if policies and procedures aren't followed".

On 12 October 2008 then Senator Barack Hussein Obama went to the Lincoln Green neighborhood in Holland, Ohio home to Joe Wurzelbacher. Wurzelbacher had been playing football with his son in his front yard when Obama began knocking on doors soliciting votes. Wurzelbacher was not seeking publicity, he was enjoying time with his son. These critical facts have been lost on millions of democRAT socialist moonbats who have been preaching the DUmmieLand MoveOn mantra that Wurzelbacher was the one seeking publicity.

Someone who has latched onto this falsehood is Terry Wills of Middletown, Ohio. He commented on the DDN article saying if Wurzelbacher "agreed to play the game to reap the publicity from supporting the McCain campaign, then he should be man enough to endure the consequences. Celebrity status doesn’t come without a price and the price is to give up your privacy. We don't need a law to protect people like this." Really? "Man enough to endure the consequences?" Suppose someone from Middletown, Ohio were to comment on an article and interject himself into the discussion. Suppose further that people were interested in "knowing the validity" of this individual and thought they "right to know the character" of this person. Suppose they wanted to know that his email address was kwills1116@cinci.rr.com; or that he served in the US Air Force from 1968 to 1972 and was at Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Vietnam with the 7th Air Force from September 1969 to September 1970 where he refueled flightline aircraft; or that his wife's name is Kathleen; or that he worked as a Lab Technician III at International Paper; or that he graduated high school in 1966; or that he moved to Tucson, Arizona only to return to Middletown in 2005; or that he believes the Middletown school board and city council have ruined the city; or that he paid $2,545.94 in property taxes for 2007; or that his home was built in 1989 and is valued at $140,500 after being purchased on 10 October 2005 for $177,000; or that his phone number is (513) 423-0749 and lives at 308 Rachel Lane, Middletown, OH 45042? Just suppose that someone wanted to begin with an email address and seek information on someone who interjected themselves into the discussion. Wouldn't that be absurd? Just suppose.

Kettering Ohio among best places to raise your kid

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/14/2008 03:45:00 PM

The city of Kettering has been recognized as a runner-up city in BusinessWeek.com's Best Places to Raise Your Kids 2009 report. Kettering was listed as a runner-up to Columbus. Ohio's capital was chosen as one of the online magazine's "Best Places" because it has "the country's largest college campus" and is considered "a vibrant city with a strong arts scene and excellent zoo." Kettering City Manager Mark Schwieterman is pleased with the city's runner-up status, but said, "we believe we're number one."

My wife and I moved to Kettering in 2000 and we love it. Our neighborhood has the same small town atmosphere that I grew up with down South.

PepsiCo gives $500,000 to promote the gay agenda in workplace

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/14/2008 03:45:00 PM

Pepsi has given Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) a half-million dollars to help push the homosexual agenda in the workplace. Pepsi has a long tradition of financial support for homosexual groups. According to Jacqueline Millan, director of PepsiCo Corporate Contributions, "We are delighted to continue our partnership with PFLAG...(in) promoting the necessary message of inclusion to untapped groups...and that is a crucial step toward building a healthy working environment."

Despite the fact that 30 states have passed constitutional amendments defining marriage as being between a man and a woman, Pepsi continues to support the efforts by same-sex groups pushing for homosexual marriage. AFA wrote Pepsi on October 14 and again on October 29 asking the company to remain neutral in the culture war. Pepsi didn't care enough to respond to the AFA letters. Pepsi's lack of response indicates the company plans to continue support for the homosexual agenda.

Veteran Friends

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/14/2008 03:44:00 PM

Civilian Friends vs. Veteran Friends
CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Get upset if you're too busy to talk to them for a week.
VETERAN FRIENDS: Are glad to see you after years, and will happily carry on the same conversation you were having the last time you met.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Have never seen you cry.
VETERAN FRIENDS: Have cried with you.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Borrow your stuff for a few days then give it back.
VETERAN FRIENDS: Keep your stuff so long they forget it's yours.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Know a few things about you.
VETERAN FRIENDS: Could write a book with direct quotes from you.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Will leave you behind if that's what the crowd is doing.
VETERAN FRIENDS: Will kick the crowds' ass that left you behind.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Are for a while.
VETERAN FRIENDS: Are for a lifetime.

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Have shared a few experiences...
VETERAN FRIENDS: Have shared a lifetime of experiences no citizen could ever dream of...

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Will take your drink away when they think you've had enough.
VETERAN FRIENDS: Will look at you stumbling all over the place and say, 'You better drink the rest of that before you spill it!' Then carry you home safely and put you to bed ...

CIVILIAN FRIENDS: Will talk crap to the person who talks crap about you.
VETERAN FRIENDS: Will knock the hell out of them --- for using your name in vain.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America', for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'

From one Veteran to another, it's an honor to be in your Company.

Amen.

Fourteen-year-old wears "McCain girl" shirt to government school with predictable results

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/14/2008 03:41:00 PM

As the media keeps gushing on about how America has finally adopted tolerance as the great virtue, and that we're all united now, let's consider the Brave Catherine Vogt Experiment. Catherine Vogt, 14, is an Illinois 8th grader, the daughter of a liberal mom and a conservative dad. She wanted to conduct an experiment in political tolerance and diversity of opinion at her school in the liberal suburb of Oak Park.

She noticed that fellow students at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School overwhelmingly supported Barack Obama for president. His campaign kept preaching "inclusion," and she decided to see how included she could be. So just before the election, Catherine consulted with her history teacher, then bravely wore a unique T-shirt to school and recorded the comments of teachers and students in her journal. The T-shirt bore the simple yet quite subversive words drawn with a red marker: "McCain Girl."

"I was just really curious how they'd react to something that different, because a lot of people at my school wore Obama shirts and they are big Obama supporters," Catherine told us. "I just really wanted to see what their reaction would be." Immediately, Catherine learned she was stupid for wearing a shirt with Republican John McCain's name. Not merely stupid. Very stupid. "People were upset. But they started saying things, calling me very stupid, telling me my shirt was stupid and I shouldn't be wearing it," Catherine said. Then it got worse. "One person told me to go die. It was a lot of dying. A lot of comments about how I should be killed," Catherine said, of the tolerance in Oak Park.

Reason # Spinning counter to homeschool.

GOP to file Federal lawsuits to overturn parts of McCain-Feingold

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/14/2008 03:40:00 PM

The Republican Party will file federal lawsuits Thursday seeking to overthrow the McCain-Feingold federal campaign finance regulations, Republican National Committee Chairman Robert M. "Mike" Duncan revealed Wednesday night at a private dinner with the nation's Republican governors. The move is considered a slap in the face of the Republican Party's failed 2008 presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who was dramatically outspent by Democrat Barack Obama, and of President Bush, who signed McCain-Feingold into law in 2002.

"We will bring two federal suits tomorrow to strengthen the Republican Party," Mr. Duncan told The Washington Times. Mr. Duncan said one suit will be filed in the District of Columbia to strike down the soft-money ban that is the central tenet of the McCain-Feingold Act - formally known as the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002. "Soft money" is largely unrestricted contributions from wealthy individuals, corporations and labor unions. The second suit will be in a Louisiana federal court to strike down the limits under the law Mr. McCain co-sponsored with Sen. Russ Feingold, Wisconsin Democrat, that control coordination between parties and their candidates.

It's about time. They're only two thousand two hundred three days late in doing so. What part of "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech" doesn't Congress understand?

Islamic terrorist insurgents take Somali port city of Marka

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/14/2008 03:30:00 PM

Islamic insurgents seized a strategic port city in Somalia on Wednesday, raising fears that they were gearing up for an assault on the capital, about 50 miles away. The fighters, wearing red head scarves and chanting "God is great," marched into Marka without firing a shot. Government troops had fled the night before upon hearing that an attack was imminent, residents said.

Sounds like a good excuse for a live fire exercise with CTF-150. Either that or we ship Oprah (alternatives would be Rosie O'Donnell or Joy Bahar -- take your pick) over there and tell her they stole her Hostess cupcakes and then sit back and watch the bloodbath ensue.

Taliban murder American citizen in Pakistan

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/12/2008 11:16:00 PM

Taliban fighter shot and killed a US citizen outside of his home in Peshawar, the provincial capital. In a separate attack, a Taliban suicide bomber struck outside of a high school in the neighboring district of Charsadda. A Taliban team gunned down killed Steve Vance and his driver outside of Vance's home in a so-called secure neighborhood in Peshawar "favored by diplomats and foreign aid workers close to the American Club," Reuters reported.

The Taliban assassination squad was able to penetrate the security in Peshawar, scouted Vance's home, and wait for him to leave his home. "As he was coming out of his home, the attackers opened fire on him and killed him along with his driver," a senior police officer told the news agency.

Don't hold your breath about Komrade Obama going after the animals who did this. He's too busy counting the money they donated to his campaign.

Britain bans the word "British"

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/12/2008 11:15:00 PM

The word "British" can be as offensive as "negro" and "half-caste", according to a race relations body. The publicly-funded organization’s views have been adopted by Caerphilly council in South Wales for a leaflet advising staff on how to deal with the public. In a section on what words or phrases not to use to avoid causing offense, the leaflet solemnly informs the council’s 9,000 workers: "The idea of 'British' implies a false sense of unity - many Scots, Welsh and Irish resist being called British and the land denoted by the term contains a wide variety of cultures, languages and religions." The suggestion the word "British" should be avoided appears alongside similar sections which warn that "half-caste" implies "a person is not whole and so should be avoided" and that "negro" has "racist overtones and is linked with the slave trade".

The whole Camilla Parker-Bowles/Prince Charles thing is beginning to make sense now.

Komrade Obama snubs the Philippines

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/11/2008 01:36:00 PM

The sidelining of the Arroyo call gave a glimpse of the importance of the Philippines to the United States at a moment of change of administration. It is clear that the Philippines stands on the outer perimeter of US concerns in world affairs. The first telephone conversations reveal the Philippines is not within the charmed circles of the Obama administration. It is a leper outside looking in. It is imperative that Manila should rearrange its priorities vis-à-vis Washington. Obama is not our friend.

Muzzies admit "Islam is not a Religion of Peace"

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/11/2008 01:34:00 PM

When a woman in a burkha asked how he could justify this when Islam was supposed to be a religion of peace, the crowd mocked her. But it was Choudary who rose to put her in her place. "Islam is not a religion of peace," he said. "It is a religion of submission. We need to submit to the will of Allah."

Happy Veteran's Day!

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/11/2008 07:00:00 AM

What Is A Veteran? (Attributed to Father Denis Edward O'Brian, USMC)
Some veterans bear visible signs of their service: a missing limb, a jagged scar, a certain look in the eye. Others may carry the evidence inside them, a pin holding a bone together, a piece of shrapnel in the leg - or perhaps another sort of inner steel: the soul's ally forged in the refinery of adversity.

Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no badge or emblem. You can't tell a vet just by looking. What is a vet?

A vet is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored personnel carriers didn't run out of fuel.

A vet is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks, whose overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of exquisite bravery near the 38th Parallel.

A vet is the nurse who fought against futility and went to sleep sobbing every night for two solid years in Da Nang.

A vet is the POW who went away one person and came back another - or didn't come back at all.

A vet is the drill instructor who has never seen combat - but has saved countless lives by turning slouchy, no-account punks and gang members into marines, airmen, sailors, soldiers and coast guardsmen, and teaching them to watch each other's backs.

A vet is the parade-riding Legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand.

A vet is the career quartermaster who watches the ribbons and medals pass him by.

A vet is the three anonymous heroes in The Tomb Of The Unknowns, whose presence at the Arlington National Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all the anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with them on the battlefield or in the ocean's sunless deep.

A vet is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket - palsied now and aggravatingly slow - who helped liberate a Nazi death camp and who wishes all day long that his wife were still alive to hold him when the nightmares come.

A vet is an ordinary and yet extraordinary human being, a person who offered some of his life's most vital years in the service of his country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs.

A vet is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the darkness, and he is nothing more that the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known.

So remember, each time you see someone who has served our country, just lean over and say, "Thank You." That's all most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded.

Again, two little words that mean a lot to any Veteran -- "THANK YOU."

Have you hugged and thanked a veteran today?

DDN: Problems with county's voting system must be fixed

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/10/2008 03:21:00 PM

Montgomery County has the dubious honor of being just one of four Ohio counties that Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner says missed the noon Wednesday deadline to report results. (The others were Franklin, Stark and Butler.)

Local officials and Brunner will have to sort out why and how Montgomery County got itself in this spot. Brunner says she won't sanction the county, but she believes that the county's electronic machines aren't good enough, nor is its system for counting paper ballots. The county officials say we have a good system, and Brunner's mandate of the paper ballot alternative caused unavoidable counting delays.

Here's an idea: let's not have people working the polls whose average age is 85 years old. As I wrote on election day, the problem at my precinct had nothing to do with the ballots themselves, but with the fact that a circuit had been tripped and that it took them over an hour to figure this out. Besides the deficiency in electrical troubleshooting skills, the ability to comprehend the alphabet was also a hindrance. After giving my last name she began to look not in the section for my last name but in the opposite end of the book. She then turned to that section, looked up and smiled asking my name again. When I corrected her the presiding judge sitting next to her shook his head and reached over to assist her with her duties in finding my name. After all the attention focused on ACORN and their fraudulent voter registration the talking heads assured the public that there was a stark difference between the fraud found in registration, and actually voting. With what I saw first-hand, I'm surprised if Mickey Mouse and the starting lineup for the Dallas Cowboys didn't vote with the rest of us there.

I don't see the system itself as what needs to be fixed, but the people working within it. Basic skills of observation and paying attention should be paramount followed by the ability to troubleshoot an issue. Once I had a working card, I was able to vote in a matter of a few minutes, but getting to that point was the problem, compounded by the inadequacies I've pointed out here.

US Postal Service looks to cut 40,000 jobs in first layoff in history

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/10/2008 03:20:00 PM

"We lost 2 billion dollars and like any other business we have to stay afloat." And to keep from sinking, the United States Postal Service is considering cutting thousands of jobs nationwide. Lavelle Pepper with the post office in Shreveport says they too are feeling the affects of the same disease hitting the country... a struggling economy. "We employ about 685,000 people. If we do layoffs it would include clerks, carriers, mail handlers across all crafts." Pepper says the postal service is looking to eliminate 40,000 jobs nationwide. There's not an exact number on how many of those could be from the Ark-La-Tex. Pepper says workers who are not part of union with six or less years of service would likely be the first on the chopping block. "We've identified 16 thousand people that are not covered under contract. We'll see what those numbers add up to."

Why stop there? That would represent only a five percent cut. If they were to triple or quadruple that number then it would be accomplishing something finally. Better yet, privatize this bloated agency and let the free market decide.

"Odorprinting" could be used to identify people

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/10/2008 03:20:00 PM

Every person has a unique fragrance, similar to a fingerprint or DNA sample, which could be used to create a database of human scents, scientists said. Eating powerful foods such as chili or garlic may change how we smell, but it does not disguise our underlying genetically-determined aroma, tests on mice have shown. Creatures who were given strong-smelling foods were still recognized by their peers. The signature smells may have evolved to help in choosing mates and marking out territories.

Jae Kwak, lead author of the study at Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, said that the research suggested that "odorprinting" could soon have a practical use. "These findings indicate that biologically based odorprints, like fingerprints, could be a reliable way to identify individuals," he said.

Do you think they could test this on Komrade Obama's plane? That is if they could stomach the stink on board.

Army to build test track at Aberdeen

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/10/2008 03:17:00 PM

The Army is scheduled to break ground Thursday for 4.5-mile high-speed test track at Aberdeen Proving Ground. The $8.8 million oval will be built at the post’s Automotive Technology Evaluation Facility. It will allow the military to test wheeled and tracked vehicles at high speeds. Some of those vehicles will be heavily armored and weigh as much as 119 tons.

If an M1 Abrams can go up to 42MPH, how do they classify "high speed"?

Plan to decrease Ohio property taxes upsets government school indoctrinators

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/09/2008 11:33:00 PM

Legislation proposed last week that would lower taxable property values statewide by 10 percent is being met with concern. State Rep. Courtney Combs (R-Hamilton) said his bill is meant to ease the financial burden placed on taxpayers by this year's real estate tax re-appraisal that sent values up, while many market values have dropped. The reduction would apply to the 2009 tax bill, payable in 2010, according to House Bill 630.But Michele Prater, spokeswoman for the Ohio Education Association, said her group has "serious concerns about impacts to local school district budgets" if the measure is passed.

Serious concerns? Would those be being able to waste money on absurd projects while test scores get worse each and every year? Here's an idea. Why not have parents who elect to submit their children to indoctrination in government school pay for them? As parents who has chosen to give my children an actual education by homeschooling them, my wife and I are responsible to finance everything. We do not receive any financial assistance whatsoever. The cost of their curriculum comes out of our pocket. No government department cuts us a check as they do for your local government school. We pay for everything.

If parents who choose to have their children indoctrinated in government schools have to pay $30,000 for kits which were distributed to students in government school explaining to them how much they should attend school or $65,000 for "Music therapy services" I would bet that their apathy would be have a short life. Better yet, as I have written previously, "Close 'em all down. Government schools are about the biggest waste of money short of the salary paid to Massachusetts two Senators."

Words of Wisdom from President Ronald Reagan

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/09/2008 08:08:00 PM

After thinking over Komrade Obama's upcoming first term as Secretary General of the United Socialist States of America I looked to the greatest president this nation has ever had, and one I proudly served under. President Reagan spoke to CPAC a number of times. Here is part of his speech he delivered to CPAC on 6 February 1977:
Despite what some in the press may say, we who are proud to call ourselves "conservative" are not a minority of a minority party; we are part of the great majority of Americans of both major parties and of most of the independents as well. When a conservative states that the free market is the best mechanism ever devised by the mind of man to meet material needs, he is merely stating what a careful examination of the real world has told him is the truth. When a conservative says it is bad for the government to spend more than it takes in, he is simply showing the same common sense that tells him to come in out of the rain. Conservatism is the antithesis of the kind of ideological fanaticism that has brought so much horror and destruction to the world. The common sense and common decency of ordinary men and women, working out their own lives in their own way - this is the heart of American conservatism today. Conservative wisdom and principles are derived from willingness to learn, not just from what is going on now, but from what has happened before.

The principles of conservatism are sound because they are based on what men and women have discovered through experience in not just one generation or a dozen, but in all the combined experience of mankind. When we conservatives say that we know something about political affairs, and that we know can be stated as principles, we are saying that the principles we hold dear are those that have been found, through experience, to be ultimately beneficial for individuals, for families, for communities and for nations - found through the often bitter testing of pain, or sacrifice and sorrow.

The time has come for Republicans to say to black voters: "Look, we offer principles that black Americans can, and do, support." We believe in jobs, real jobs; we believe in education that is really education; we believe in treating all Americans as individuals and not as stereotypes or voting blocs - and we believe that the long-range interest of black Americans lies in looking at what each major party has to offer, and then deciding on the merits. The Democratic Party takes the black vote for granted. Well, it's time black America and the New Republican Party move toward each other and create a situation in which no black vote can be taken for granted.

Helen Jones-Kelley put on paid leave by Governor Strickland

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/08/2008 01:44:00 PM

Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and former head of that department in Montgomery County, has been placed on paid administrative leave by Gov. Ted Strickland. Strickland said on Friday, Nov. 7, that he took the action "due to the possibility, as yet unconfirmed, that a state computer or state e-mail account was used to assist in political fund raising."

This wouldn't be the first time she has been in any type of trouble. She was sanctioned on 27 January 1997 for "failing to comply with the continuing legal education ('CLE') requirements of Gov. Bar R. X ." At the time she went by the name, Helen Elizabeth Leonhart-Jones. The court order also states that until she complied with the court, "the Clerk of the Court shall record the respondent's status on the roll of attorneys as 'NOT IN GOOD STANDING'."

Government school indoctrinator belittles child for supporting McCain

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/08/2008 01:43:00 PM

A Cumberland County school teacher is defending her comments to a fifth-grade pupil who expressed support for John McCain in her class last spring. The exchange at Mary McArthur Elementary School was captured by a Swedish television documentary crew, and the video is making the rounds on the Internet including YouTube. In the video, which reportedly aired in Scandinavia earlier this week, teacher Diatha D. Harris calls the Iraq War "senseless" and tells one student whose father is a soldier that McCain would keep troops there for 100 years.

The classroom discussion begins with Harris asking the class who they support for president. When two students say McCain, she responds with "Oh Lord" and "Oh Jesus." She asks them why they are you pulling for McCain or Obama. One student says she supports Obama because "he is making good changes" like "not having a fight between Iraq, and having soldiers killed."

"So in other words," Harris says, "Barack is going to end that war in Iraq." One girls says she supports McCain. When asked why, she tells her teacher "I think it’s because of my parents are going for him, too." Harris points out that the girl’s father is in the military, then says to the class that Iraq is a "senseless war."

"And by the way," Harris tells the girl, "the person that you’re picking for president said that our troops could stay in Iraq for another hundred years if they need to. So that means that your daddy could stay in the military for another hundred years." The girl appears to be embarrassed and doesn’t respond.

Did you vote today?

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/04/2008 04:18:00 PM

I was in line at 6:15AM, waiting for the polls to open at 6:30AM. I counted fifty people in front of me in line. At 6:58AM the electronic machines were not working, with paper ballots being the only option. At 7:15AM, electronic machines were still not available - only paper ballots. At 7:35AM, just over one hour after the polls opened, they discovered that a ground fault had been tripped and electronic machines were finally available. I received my card to vote on the touch screen electronic machine at 8:05AM. When I went to use it there was an error message on screen that the card was not valid and the vote was canceled. I went back to the table where the voting officials were (only three of them for my precinct), and explained the situation. I didn't know quite how to react when she acknowledged that they knew that the card I was given had already been giving other voters the same error message, but that they had continued to use it with the hopes it might begin working somehow. I just shook my head in disgust as they setup another card for me and I went to try and vote again. This time it worked ok, and I was able to complete my ballot after only two or three minutes at 8:10AM.

A source at the Ohio GOP just told me [4:15PM] that the Republican turnout is running much higher than the democRAT turnout.

Update: 4 November 2008/4:41PM
Just told by them that GOP turnout is currently running higher than the total from 2004.

Dayton woman arrested for punching 12-year-old in front of police

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/03/2008 11:54:00 PM

Police arrested a 38-year-old woman Saturday, Nov. 1, after she allegedly punched her 12-year-old daughter in the face while talking to officers. LaShawnda Jackson called police at about 12:30 a.m. to pick up her two sons, who were in another part town, and bring them home to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue, according to a police report.

While explaining the situation to police, Jackson's daughter came into the room, according to the report. Jackson allegedly told her daughter "not to get in her face," and to go back in another room, the report stated. The 12-year-old girl then came back in the room a few minutes later to speak to her mother, the report stated. That's when Jackson, "without warning," struck her daughter in the face with a closed fist, according to the report.

Officers grabbed Jackson and told her she could not hit a child like that, the report stated. Jackson told officers her 12-year-old was "being rude," according to the report." She was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of child endangering and Montgomery County Children's Services was contacted, the report stated.

Barack Hussein Obama in favor of reversing ban on Partial-Birth Abortions

Posted by DarthDilbert at 11/03/2008 12:17:00 AM

The fact that he supports this is no surprise. It's but another example of how democRATs are embroiled within a culture of death. They relish and delight in it. Evidence of this was presented on the nightly newscasts from the mainstream media during the first few years of the war in Iraq when they would cheerfully report the number of soldiers who had been killed that day. I fully expected to tune into MSNBC and see cheerleaders on either side of the anchor as they reported the latest figures. The same holds true for when they report on the number of babies murdered in these abortion mills. They only begin to object when you present photos of what these supposed medical professionals do to the bodies of these children. It's barbaric. It's medevil. It's nothing short of horrific. No procedure is more horrific though than the practice of partial-birth abortion.

It is a procedure that takes three days to perform. In it, "the abortionist begins by dilating the woman's cervix for two days. Then, on the third day, he uses forceps to deliver the entire baby except for the head. At this point, the abortionist uses blunt surgical scissors, or a trochar, to stab the baby at the base of the skull. He then inserts a vacuum tube and sucks the child's brains out. Then he can collapse the skull and pull the dead baby through the cervical opening." This is what Hillary Clinton described as a "constitutional right" and what Barack Hussein Obama wish to allow. Over 2200 babies are murdered during this procedure brings in up to $3,794,400 a year to the abortion industry that supports Obama.

One of his most ardent supporters is Planned Parenthood. A group founded by a racist and proponent of eugenics, Margaret Sanger. In 1932, she published a book called "A Plan for Peace" in which she argued for "A stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation to that grade of population whose progeny is already tainted or whose inheritance is such that objectionable traits may be transmitted to offspring." She also wrote that, "Ignorance breeds poverty and poverty breeds ignorance. There is only one cure for both, and that is to stop breeding these things. Stop bringing to birth children whose inheritance cannot be one of health or intelligence. Stop bringing into the world children whose parents cannot provide for them. Herein lies the key of civilization. For upon the foundation of an enlightened and voluntary motherhood shall a future civilization emerge." On page 217 of her autobiography, she acknowledged that the practice of abortion murders a baby writing, "no matter how early it was performed it was taking life." She did not qualify her statement that the proponents for abortion do today with focusing on how old the baby is, she stated clearly that it was murder, the taking of a life.

Given the overwhelming active support by Planned Parenthood it would not surprise me in the least to see an Obama administration promote not only abortion, but continue Sanger's support of eugenics through the Department of Health and Human Services. If you look closely at the writings of Sanger you begin to pull back the curtain and see the true evil that surrounds the abortion industry.

Reversing the ban on partial-birth abortions is not a change we can believe in.
