Police arrested a 38-year-old woman Saturday, Nov. 1, after she allegedly punched her 12-year-old daughter in the face while talking to officers. LaShawnda Jackson called police at about 12:30 a.m. to pick up her two sons, who were in another part town, and bring them home to the 500 block of South Broadway Avenue, according to a police report.
While explaining the situation to police, Jackson's daughter came into the room, according to the report. Jackson allegedly told her daughter "not to get in her face," and to go back in another room, the report stated. The 12-year-old girl then came back in the room a few minutes later to speak to her mother, the report stated. That's when Jackson, "without warning," struck her daughter in the face with a closed fist, according to the report.
Officers grabbed Jackson and told her she could not hit a child like that, the report stated. Jackson told officers her 12-year-old was "being rude," according to the report." She was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of child endangering and Montgomery County Children's Services was contacted, the report stated.
