Martin Gottlieb isn't impressed with Ohio terrorists

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/31/2009 09:57:00 PM

Admitted terrorists such as Nuradin Abdi, Iyman Faris, and Christopher Paul don't impress the Dayton Daily democRAT News's Martin Gottleib. His column is has the obligatory straw man arguments as well as multiple instances of supposition with few facts. After reading his column, the only logical conclusion a reader has is that he prefers terrorists like Mohamed Atta, Satam al-Suqami, Waleed al-Shehri, Wail al-Shehri, Abdulaziz al-Omari, Marwan al-Shehhi, Fayez Banihammad, Mohand al-Shehri, Hamza al-Ghamdi, Ahmed al-Ghamdi, Hani Hanjour, Khalid al-Mihdhar, Majed Moqed, Nawaf al-Hazmi, Salem al-Hazmi, Ziad Jarrah, Ahmed al-Nami, Saeed al-Ghamdi, Ahmed al-Haznawi, Abu Zubaydah, Ramzi Binalshibh, and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. They killed 3000 people and wounded almost 6300 others. Perhaps Abdi, Faris and Paul don't give him the same warm fuzzies that those associated with 9/11 provide.

I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Nuradin Abdi was en route to Ogaden, Ethiopia "for the purpose of obtaining military-style training in preparation for violent Jihad." I'm sure Abdi's real intention here was to scout for the Ohio State Buckeyes. I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Abdi knowingly provided "material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization." I'm sure Abdi's true intention was to be a community organizer. I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Abdi knowingly provided false documentation to the IRS so that he could travel to Africa for his terrorist training. I'm sure Abdi's true intention was to take part in alQaeda's fitness regimen. He pled guilty on 31 July 2007 to working with alQaeda to help plot attacks against the United States. An interesting side note: Abdi was assisted with his voter registration by ACORN.

I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Iyman Faris knowingly provided information to alQaeda about "ultralight" aircraft. I'm sure Faris' true intention was to prepare for the Dayton Air Show. I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Iyman Faris knowingly ordered 2,000 lightweight sleeping bags that were shipped to Afghanistan for use by Osama bin Laden and alQaeda. I'm sure Faris' true intention was to assist the many urban outdoorsman around Karachi, Pakistan. I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Iyman Faris knowingly bought airline tickets for alQaeda. I'm sure Faris' true intention was to boost the tourism industry. I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Iyman Faris offered his assistance with his truck used with deliveries for cargo planes due in part that the cargo planes because they would hold "more weight and more fuel." I'm sure Faris' true intention was to study the scientific principles of weight distribution. I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Iyman Faris knowingly worked with alQaeda in procuring equipment they required to destroy the Brooklyn Bridge. I'm sure Faris' true intention was to happily assist the New York City Department of Transportation with a construction project. Faris pled guilty on 1 May 2003 to "to casing a New York City bridge for alQaeda, and researching and providing information to alQaeda regarding the tools necessary for possible attacks on U.S. targets," and is currently serving twenty years in prison.

I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Christopher Paul ("a.k.a Abdul, a.k.a. Abdul Malek, a.k.a. Abdul Malik, a.k.a Abdul Melik, a.k.a. Abdel Malek, a.k.a Abdulmaled, a.k.a. Abdul Malek Kenyatta, a.k.a. Paul Kenyatta Laws, a.k.a. Paul Laws") offered to provide personnel including himself to alQaeda for terrorist training. I'm sure Paul's true intention was to ease the burden felt by the Ohio Job Center. I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Paul provided money and equipment to alQaeda. I'm sure Paul's true intention was to just hold a fundraiser similar to the one Bill Ayers held for a future junior senator from Illinois. I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Paul stayed at an alQaeda affiliated guest house in Peshawar, Pakistan. I'm sure Paul's intention's were true and that there was no room at the Hilton. I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Paul established a close relationship with another alQaeda member, Khalifah Lnu, who was responsible for "logistics and transporting personnel to and from alQaeda training camps in Afghanistan." I'm sure Paul's true intention was to audition for a slot as S4 in AmeriCorps. I guess it doesn't matter to Gottlieb that Paul "traveled to Afghanistan and obtained training at an alQaeda training camp" which included "use of assault rifles, grenades, rocket-propelled grenades, small unit tactics, and hand-to-hand combat." I'm sure Paul's true intention was to make sure he could defend his local mosque in Columbus in between speeches advocating Jihad. Paul pled guilty on 3 June 2008 to "conspiring with others to use a weapon of mass destruction, namely explosive devices, against targets in Europe and the United States in violation of 18 USC, Section 2332a."

DDN claims that "innocent people" were supposedly tortured and yet at the same time bring up one example after another of people currently in prison for terrorism, several who admitted to their crimes. Who then are these supposed "innocent people?"

What do DDN and Gottlieb think about people like Ohio State Assistant Professor Pranav Jani or Kent State professor Julio Pino? Do they impress you Marty? They preach Jihad and call for the downfall of the republic. What that impress you?

DDN concedes the point that the waterboarding of KSM "might have worked," but maintain that it was still a "bad idea." They forget that it has been clearly established that the information we have now about alQaeda was gleaned from the interrogations of Abu Zubaydah and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Was that a bad idea? The intelligence we gathered not only gave us a framework of how alQaeda is structured, but about operations which were being planned allowing us to stop them preventing the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians. Was that a bad idea? That doesn't impress the Dayton Daily News and Martin Gottlieb. Would they have preferred a Boeing 767-223ER to slam into the Kettering Tower or the KeyBank Tower? I understand that they are only a third of the height that the two World Trace Center towers were, but would that suffice for the DDN to impress them? What if Iyman Faris decided to go a different route and follow the example of fellow terrorist Timothy McVeigh and use his truck to deliver a load of ammonium nitrate and nitromethane to North Main and Second Streets? Would that impress you Marty?

The time has come for people to take a stand: you either want to defeat the threat of Islamofascism, or appease it. Sadly, it's clear what the position of not only the Dayton Daily News, but the majority of democRATs and even the current Commander-In-Chief.

Glenn Beck: Reasonable questions for unreasonable times

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/30/2009 02:47:00 PM

Our unfunded liability for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid is close to $100 trillion. Is there any way to pay for these programs without bankrupting America?

We are in so much debt, why spend more borrowed money on cap-and-trade and healthcare programs before we stop the flow of red-ink?

The stimulus package funneled billions of dollars to ACORN. How does giving billions of dollars to ACORN stimulate the economy?

If it was so important for congress to pass the stimulus bill before they even had time to read it why has only a fraction of the stimulus money been spent six months later?

Bush said he had to abandon free market principles in order to save them, how exactly does that work?

Why won't members of Congress read the bills before they vote on them?

Why are citizens mocked and laughed at when they ask their congressman to read the bills before they vote on them?

Was the cash-for-clunkers program meant to save the earth or the economy? Did it accomplish either?

How did Van Jones, a self-proclaimed communist become a special advisor to the president?

Did President Obama know of Van Jones' radical political beliefs when he named him special advisor?

The Apollo Alliance claimed credit for writing the stimulus bill - why was this group allowed to write any portion of this bill?

If politicians aren't writing the bills and aren't reading the bills, do they have any idea what these 1000 page plus bills actually impose on the American people?

If the "public option" health care plan is so good why won't politicians agree to have that as their plan?

If town hall meetings are intended for the politicians to learn what's on our mind—why do they spend so much time talking instead of listening?

Politicians are refusing to attend town hall meetings complaining, without evidence, that they are scripted. Does that mean we shouldn't come out and vote for you since every campaign stop, baby kiss and speech you give is scripted?

Why would you want to overwhelm the system?

Is using the economic crises to rush legislation through congress what Rahm Emanuel meant when he talked about "not letting a crises go to waste"?

What are the czars paid? What is the budget for their staffs/offices?

Who is "surrounding" the President in the White House?

Do any of the President's advisers have criminal records?

Are the President's advisers working to better the country or their own ideals?

Who are the anti-capitalists in Washington?

What roles do they have in crafting bills?

What was "STORM"? What happened to the founders, where are they now?

What qualifications must one have to be a Presidential adviser?

What is the difference between a community organizer and a community activist?

Do the czars have power?

Should a communist have the ear of the President of the United States?

What role did the Apollo Alliance play in crafting bills?

Does the President know the co-founder of the Weather Underground is a board member of the Apollo Alliance?

How many people in the administration are connected to the movement for a democratic society?

What role does George Soros play...Constitutionally?

Why does the FCC have a diversity "czar"?

Who is Mark Lloyd and how does he plan to "balance" the airwaves?

Will he bring back the Fairness Doctrine or worse?

Cass Sunstein once said he wants to balance the Internet; is that next?

Will broadcasters who leave the airwaves be allowed to go to satellite or Internet without government regulation?

Is there any place (that has a mass audience) where the government wont regulate free speech?

Why does it seem every member of the Obama advisory team hates capitalism, unless those companies (like G.E.) are in bed with the administration?

If Lloyd has his way, stations who don't comply to the governments definition of the "public interest" will have to pay a massive fine — that helps support public broadcasting:

What will be the definition of "public interest"?

Who defines "public interest"?

Why should it be balanced? Because it's public airwaves?

Why do we need a civilian force?

Who is posing a threat to us?

Who will this "force" be made up of?

Who is the real enemy?

Does the president know of a coming event? If not, who builds an army against an unrecognized enemy?

Why won't the media get off their butts and look into these radicals in the White House? And into this civilian army?

Bill would give Obama emergency control of Internet

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/30/2009 02:43:00 PM

Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet. They're not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft, which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.

The sponsor of the bill is Senator John D. Rockefeller IV (democRAT - WV), and the three co-sponsors are Senator Evan Bayh (democRAT - IN), Senator Bill Nelson (democRAT - FL), and Senator Olympia J. Snowe (RINO - ME). I guess they forgot about that old pesky First Amendment.

The Lie Clock

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/26/2009 04:02:00 PM

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter's desk at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked, "What are all those clocks there for?"

St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move."

"Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?"

"That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie."

"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?"

St. Peter responded, "That's George Washington's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Washington told only two lies in his entire life."

"Where's Barack Obama 's clock?" asked the man.

"Obama's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan."

Dayton government schools embrace failure as they score another "D" on state report card

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/26/2009 03:59:00 PM

"That's the best indicator we are moving in the right direction," Superintendent Kurt Stanic said.

The right direction?

The state achievement requirement for grades 3-8 is 75%.

Students in 3rd Grade scored an average of 54.9% which was 20.1% below the state minimum requirement.

Students in 4th grade scored an average of 45.43% which was 29.57% below the state minimum requirement.

Students in 5th grade scored an average of 26.35% which was 48.65% below the state minimum requirement.

Students in 6th grade scored an average of 46.2% which was 28.8% below the state minimum requirement.

Students in 7th grade scored an average of 47.83% which was 27.17% below the state minimum requirement.

Students in 8th grade scored an average of 26.88% which was 48.13% below the state minimum requirement.

Students taking the 10th grade Ohio Graduation Test scored an average of 58.72% which was 16.28% below the state minimum requirement.

Students taking the 11th grade Ohio Graduation Test scored an average of 76.18% which was 8.82% below the state minimum requirement.

Considering the dismal record of achievement thus far it wasn't surprising to see that they also failed to reach the minimum requirements for attendance as well as graduation.

Reason # to homeschool.

I think the thrill in Chrissy Mathews leg has impaired his brain

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/25/2009 12:32:00 PM

Thursday, MSNBC premieres its latest documentary, "The Kennedy Brothers: A Hardball Documentary," reported by Chris Matthews.

MSNBC says the documentary will "deconstruct the myth and legend surrounding the quintessential American family." Matthews has worked with and reported on the Kennedys since the 1970s giving him a unique insight into their story.

Webster defines quintessence, or quintessential, as "the most typical example or representative". I doubt that the average or typical American family includes a serial adulterer, drunk murderer, a drunk driver (not to be confused with The Swimmer) who is proud to "have never worked a fu--ing day" in his life, an anti-Semite, a conspiracy theorist and socialist environmentalist, and a supporter of rights for deviants and murderers among others. Your mileage may vary.

An open letter to President Obama by Lou Pritchett

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/25/2009 12:30:00 PM

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don"t understand it at its core..

You scare me because you lack humility and "class", always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the "blame America" crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer "wind mills" to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use "extortion" tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in eight years.

Military Families United statement on Obama releasing another terrorist

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/24/2009 12:12:00 PM

Washington, DC - Kirk S. Lippold, Former USS Cole Commander and Senior Military Fellow at Military Families United, released the following statement concerning the news that Mohammed Jawad, an al Qaeda operative who attacked American troops in Afghanistan in 2002, has been transferred from Guantanamo Bay and released in Afghanistan.

"No coherent policy in the war on terror. No comprehensive plan in place to deal with the future of Guantanamo Bay detainees. No accountability for terrorists who harm our brave fighting forces. Now, in a what has become a sadly familiar pattern of decisions, the Obama Administration has released without trial Mohammed Jawad, a terrorist who attacked and wounded two U.S. soldiers and an Afghan citizen.

This terrorist release is just the latest example of dangerous decisions made by the Administration aimed at keeping a reckless campaign promise. Military Families United has been urgently calling for the President to develop a plan to keep America safe and bring these terrorists to justice. If the President’s solution to this problem is to release terrorists, he is purposefully putting our troops and this nation in greater danger and establishing a policy that could result in the deaths of more American troops."

CDR Kirk S. Lippold, USN (Ret.) was the Commanding Officer of USS Cole when it was attacked by al Qaeda terrorists in October 2000. CDR Lippold, who served on the Joint Chiefs of Staff crafting detainee policy in the initial stages of the war on terror, met with the President in February and with DoJ in June to discuss the closure of Guantanamo Bay.

Ohio rerouted donations for blind, organ donations to balance budget

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/24/2009 12:09:00 PM

State government took from funds to prevent blindness and promote organ donations in order to balance the budget.

Millions of Ohio motorists were blindsided by a June 9 raid on $2.7 million they had voluntarily paid to thwart blindness in children and help solve the critical shortage of organ donations.

When The Dispatch opened Gov. Ted Strickland's eyes yesterday to his administration's grab of $1.4 million intended for the Save Our Sight Fund, he promised that the money would be returned.

"We will certainly correct that," Strickland said. "That is not something I was aware of. I will find out why that has occurred, and it will be corrected."

Zombie movie to be filmed at Wright State University this weekend

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/22/2009 12:52:00 PM

There will be some running and screaming at the Wright State University campus this weekend, but it's all planned.

Former WSU film production student Will Graver has contracted with the university to film portions of a 25-minute zombie movie, Revelation, on the campus. Filming will be done from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the university, signs will be posted wherever filming is being done. The crew will also be accompanied at all times by a staff member from the Office of Event Services.

One of the scenes will involve a prop gun -- a campus police officer will be present while the fake weapon is being used.

Free Health Care Legislative Forums August 25-27 in Piqua, Kettering, and Fairborn

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/20/2009 11:03:00 AM

It seems that Health Care is all we're hearing about these days.

President Obama and the Congress are pressing for major changes in our national Health Care system, but it's hard to understand all the things they're saying. The proposed legislation represents a sweeping change to our American way of life, and would intimately effect every single person in this country.

Question: Who has bothered to explain this new proposed law to you? Has the media explained it? Has your Congressman met with your community to explain it? Have your Senators rolled through town to tell you about this proposal?

Since our local congressmen and our Ohio Senators haven't tried to meet with us, it's now clear that We the People are on our own.

As a community service, the Dayton Tea Party, in cooperation with its local Liberty Groups in your area, is sponsoring a series of three forums on the proposed Health Care Legislation. Please plan to attend the one nearest you. Admittance is free of charge.

Date: Tuesday Aug. 25
Time: 7:30 - 9:15PM
Location: Hance Pavilion (corner of Forest Ave & Lindsey St.) in Piqua

Date: Wednesday Aug. 26
Time: 7:00 - 8:30PM
Location: Presidential Banquet Center (4548 Presidential Way) in Kettering

Date: Thursday Aug. 27
Time: 7:00 - 8:45PM
Location: Hope Hotel & Conference Center (Bldg 823, Area A, just inside Gate 12A) in Fairborn

At these forums, you will hear a fact-based summary of the legislation which will, if passed, change the way you, your children and their children will receive Health Care in America. You will hear from medical professionals in our community regarding how this reform plan will touch their relationships their patients. Finally, you'll have the chance to record your questions for our lawmakers, which will be sent to them after the meeting.

Please plan to arrive early for best seating. We expect these excellent and informative gatherings to be well attended. Please spread the word about these Health Care Forums. They represent our best opportunity to talk with one another about the changes Washington has in store for us.

If you care about your Health Care, you'll surely want to be there!

Emergency townhall meeting on Gitmo detainee transfer to Standish, Michigan prison

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/19/2009 11:38:00 AM

STANDISH, Michigan (August 18, 2009) - Michigan citizens concerned about the controversial federal plan to transfer Guantanamo Bay terrorist detainees to the Standish Maximum Correctional Facility will hold an emergency town hall meeting this Thursday, August 20, at 12:00 noon, in Resurrection of the Lord Church, 423 W. Cedar St., Standish, Michigan. The meeting is open to the public and press.

The town hall meeting will address legal, economic and security issues that could affect the Standish area community, the State of Michigan and the nation as a whole. Slated to speak are U.S. Representative Peter Hoekstra (R-Holland), ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee; David Littmann, Senior Economist, Mackinac Center for Public Policy; Debra Burlingame, Founder of 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America and sister of the pilot of the plane which was crashed into the Pentagon on September 11, 2001; and Thomas Kerrins, chief steward for Standish for the Michigan Corrections Organization. Invitations were also extended to Governor Granholm and other state and local officials.

Residents of the Standish area community and citizens all over the State of Michigan have raised many questions and concerns about the federal government's plan to use Standish prison to house Gitmo detainees:

* The Michigan House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on August 12 included testimony that some 300 state prison-related jobs for Standish area residents would be eliminated, to be replaced by military and federal personnel.

* The Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on August 18 passed a resolution asking "the United States Congress to make certain intelligence information regarding Guantanamo Bay detention camp detainees available to the Governor and Michigan State Legislature." Elected officials in both parties and at all levels, including the Governor, Congressional delegation, state legislature, county and municipal officials, have raised concerns that the administration is not disclosing the security risks that will result from transferring the Guantanamo terrorist detainees to Standish. U.S. Representative Pete Hoekstra's testimony to the Committee can be viewed at http://hoekstra.house.gov.

* Although the transfer plan was first announced over two weeks ago, repeated requests by Michigan residents and officials to the Obama administration to let the public know details about this increasingly controversial plan have not received a response.

* Americans as a whole share these concerns: a June USA Today/Gallup poll showed 2/3 of Americans oppose the relocation of Gitmo terror suspects to the US.

* Also opposing a transfer of Gitmo detainees to the U.S., the community, business and political leaders in Kansas passed resolutions and issued statements unequivocally opposing the transfer of Gitmo inmates to Ft. Leavenworth. This unanimous opposition by Kansas officials is under consideration as a possible model for Michigan residents. Their statement of opposition can be viewed at https://www.lvks.org/egov/docs/211731229029206.pdf.

Michigan residents began organizing the August 20 emergency town hall meeting this past weekend by distributing leaflets at local community groups, churches and unions, and through neighborhood word-of-mouth.

For more information and to schedule interviews with speakers, contact Dave Munson in Standish, Michigan at dmunsonhenderson@sbcglobal.net or call (989) 846-4135 or (989) 846-4602.

New nationwide study confirms homeschool academic achievement

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/15/2009 01:40:00 PM

There was little difference between the results of homeschooled boys and girls on core scores.

Boys—87th percentile
Girls—88th percentile

Household income had little impact on the results of homeschooled students.

$34,999 or less—85th percentile
$35,000-$49,999—86th percentile
$50,000-$69,999—86th percentile
$70,000 or more—89th percentile

The education level of the parents made a noticeable difference, but the homeschooled children of non-college educated parents still scored in the 83rd percentile, which is well above the national average.

Neither parent has a college degree—83rd percentile
One parent has a college degree—86th percentile
Both parents have a college degree—90th percentile

Whether either parent was a certified teacher did not matter.

Pelosi/Hoyer op-ed in USA Today calls townhall protesters "un-American"

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/10/2009 07:57:00 AM

Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.

This month, despite the disruptions, members of Congress will listen to their constituents back home and explain reform legislation. We are confident that our principles of affordable, quality health care will stand up to any and all critics.

Now - with Americans strongly supporting health insurance reform, with Congress reaching consensus on a plan, and with a president who ran and won on this specific promise of change - America is closer than ever to this century-deferred goal.

First, as for Pelosi/Hoyer's claim that opposing ObamaCare is "un-American," I need to direct you to her comment from 17 March 2005: "Why should we put a plan out? Our plan is to stop him.(Bush) He must be stopped." She might want to remember the words of John Adams who said in Spring 1772: "The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty." ObamaCare is nothing short than an affront to the liberty each and every American holds sacred to them.

Second, you claim that "members of Congress will listen to their constituents back home." Does this apply to all members of Congress? Many are running scared behind your skirt clinging to their Dashboard Obama hoping that he will change the hearts of those opposed to this egregious and unconstitutional plan.

Finally Pelosi/Hoyer claim that "Americans strongly support health insurance reform" when the truth is just the opposite. Before writing such drivel, I would suggest they take a look at Hoyer's website where a poll he has on the front page has 76.9% not believing that reforming America's health care system should be a top priority.

Some Greater Dayton RTA workers may earn close to $100,000 a year

Posted by DarthDilbert at 8/02/2009 10:51:00 PM

The driver at the wheel of that big green Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority bus may be pulling in close to $99,000 a year. Last year, 10 drivers were paid more than $80,000, each chalking up significant overtime pay, according to an analysis of RTA earnings by the Dayton Daily News. Nearly one-tenth of RTA's 364 drivers earned more than $70,000, and a janitor was paid $79,189, making him the 18th highest paid employee in the publicly funded transit system serving Montgomery County.

What some may see as eye-popping wages were paid even as RTA struggled with major financial problems leading to service cuts and fare increases beginning this month.

"I can see where some people would see some drivers making 90,000-plus as a concern," said RTA Board President Bryan Bucklew.

Really? I guess there wouldn't be a reason then to raise rates for riders. Oops, too late.
