Standing up for marriage

Why is it that when Conservatives stand up for marriage the left refers to us as intolerant? It is those on the left who are actively seeking to redefine marriage and who are intolerant of its correct definition. Those on the left should correctly be described as fanatical in this cause and demagogues bent on bashing the institution of marriage. Unhappy with how marriage is defined they want to change it in the words of one liberal to be "a fully egalitarian process." I doubt I’m the only one who feels that it’s been this way already for several thousand years. Embedded repeatedly in the documents our nation were founded upon is the recognition that there is no ultimate governing authority but God, who created everyone equal endowing them with "certain unalienable rights."

If we submit to the desire of the left to alter the meaning of marriage it would approve of the homosexual lifestyle, which the Bible clearly and consistently condemns as sinful. The left consistently describes Conservatives as a main component of the religious right. If that were true, would that mean then that liberals compromise the atheist left?

It isn’t a matter of "appeasing the norms of the religious right" as liberals suggest, but maintaining the institution as originally outlined. Their ongoing myopic view of the world sees marriage as consistently evolving. It’s not surprising with what they have brought to society: children without fathers, divorce, daycare, pornography, to name but a few. I’m sure they are delighted with their results as well: millions of abortions per year, ever increasing teen pregnancy rates, an unprecedented level of venereal disease, and promiscuity looked at as normal. The only place that their redefinition would make any sense would be in Alice’s Wonderland.
