Two Clark County high schools were the target of a surprise drug sweep today. Kenton Ridge and Northeastern high schools saw drug dogs checking lockers, book bags and anything else that might contain drugs. One student at Kenton Ridge was found with drugs in a locker and will be charged with drug possession. Nothing was found at Northeastern. Several police departments participated in the sweep with drug dogs being brought in from Centerville and Sugarcreek Township.
For the first time in recent memory, the Miami Valley’s entire U.S. House delegation has declined to request any federal earmarked money.
A Washington ballroom was filled with Dayton-area mayors and community leaders, all whom have traveled to the Capitol to ask for tens of millions of federal dollars for local projects.
They watched and listened as Miami Valley House leaders told them they are protesting earmarked funds this year, and no requesting any.
Rep. Jim Jordan said, "The process has gotten out of control. It needs reform and I support reform 100 percent."
It's about time. I'm actually surprised Turner didn't request any funds seeing as he advocated for them last year.

Dayton [Government] Schools could cut 92 positions, 47 from the teaching staff, at the end of the school year under a plan to avoid a $6.3 million deficit in the district’s budget next year.
[Indoctrination Czar] Kurt Stanic said his plan, which is scheduled for a Dayton Board of Education vote May 4, is necessary to offset property tax revenue that has declined by $12 million since 2007 because of high rates of unemployment and home foreclosures.
"People who live in our community don’t have any money and when given the choice between paying their taxes and eating, they’re going to eat," Stanic told the school board Tuesday evening, April 20.
The cuts include nine administrators, seven clerks, nine teacher aides and 20 custodians but no principals or assistant principals. Thirty-five positions will be eliminated through attrition; 26 of those are from the teaching staff.
"It’s bad," said Pat Lynch, the teachers union president. "These are people who worked hard for the district and now they don’t have a job."
Good riddance. There is also a report from Cleveland that hundreds of indoctrinators including principals to lose jobs in their district.
"I'm pretty sure [the original moon landing] was fake. I watched the documentary on it, and it's pretty easy to believe. The flag was standing straight out when there's no wind up there. When they step on the surface, there should have been a big cloud because there's no atmosphere."
