113 Ohio government school districts diverting $22M in federal stimulus money intended for special-education services

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/25/2010 11:51:00 PM

State officials said 113 Ohio school districts are diverting $22 million in federal stimulus money intended for special-education services and spending it on other programs.

It's a small portion of the $438 million that schools are getting statewide for special-Ed. But advocates for the disabled are upset.

Jennifer Cohen, a policy analyst for the New America Foundation in Washington D.C., calls it sneaky.

The U.S. Disabilities Education Act allows districts that get additional federal dollars to reduce their local spending by up to 50 percent of the increase.

The state Education Department said the law is intended to give eligible districts flexibility and that any money spent on general education also will benefit special-needs students.

Breaking News: NBC uncovers truth about Obama's hidden identity as terrorist

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/25/2010 11:51:00 PM

It's certainly one of the shortest messages that Osama bin Laden's ever delivered, but he gets right to the point. In a one-minute audiotape released today, Obama claims credit for that failed suicide bomb attempt over Detroit on Christmas day but in it he also, more ominously, threatens more such attacks.

Ohio House Bill 371 -- Parental rights under attack in Ohio

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/22/2010 02:44:00 PM

HB 371 [summary of the bill] would repeal the terms "abused", "neglected", and "dependent" children in major sections of Ohio’s civil code and create a new category - "a child in need of protective services" This shift in core terms in state law will affect every Ohio family with minor children, because it will clearly broaden the net cast by child protective service agencies to justify an increase in the state’s intervention into the home.

Proposed R.C. 2151.03 defines a "child in need of protective services" to be one in which ONE act or omission of a parent (or guardian / legal custodian) results in the occurrence of ONE of the following: physical harm, sexual harm, emotional harm, exposure to substance misuse (not substance abuse), lacking necessary healthcare, lacking a legally required education, lacking necessary care or supervision. It is the definition of such terms that should cause every family to be concerned. (pp. 56-58)

Beyond the fact that the definition of "physical harm" includes a reference to "corporal punishment" (spanking), it is important to consider these categories in the context of what has traditionally been understood to be abuse and neglect in comparison to what would clearly be understood to be the imperfections and uncertainties of normal parenting in typical families (i.e. childhood accidents).

Please contact your State Representative and ask him or her to vote NO on HB 371 should it come to the House floor. Let him or her know you support laws that protect children from real abuse and neglect, but do not support changing the system to give unlimited state access into our homes.

It was introduced by State Representatives Connie Pillich (D - 28) and Robin Belcher (D - 10) with State Representatives Ron Amstutz (R - 3), Kevin Bacon (R - 21), Linda S. Bolon (D - 1), Barbara Boyd (D - 9), Ted Celeste (D - 24), Kathleen Chandler (D - 68), Courtney Eric Combs (R - 54), Timothy J. DeGeeter (D - 15), John Domenick (D - 95), Lorraine M. Required reading: Woodrow Wilson and the Roots of Modern Liberalism

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/21/2010 07:26:00 PM

Glenn Beck had mentioned this on his radio and TV programs several times, and I finally have been able to read this fantastic book by Ronald J. Pestritto.

I had read years ago that Wilson was a racist, but never knew the extent of his hatred towards other races until now. This hatred continues today through liberals and progressives today in their policies concerning welfare and abortion. On 22 February 1881 Wilson wrote that through government education, the black race could be "reclaimed from ignorance and indolence". In 1908, he wrote "Constitutional Government of the United States" (CGOTUS) where in Chapter One he dismisses the precept that "all men are equal" by asserting this is false. He wrote that a necessary condition for lasting democracy was the "homogeneity of race and community of thought and purpose among the people."

Time after time he writes about this overwhelming hatred for our founding documents. In CGOTUS he describes the inalienable rights that all Americans enjoy of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as "nonsense". This explains why the left is in favor of abortion, opposed to the Tea Party movement, and why they want to dictate and regulate how you live every nanosecond of your life. Pestritto writes that "In explicit opposition to the Declaration's natural law foundation for liberty, Wilson responded that 'liberty fixed in unalterable law would be no liberty at all'." This is found in Chapter One of CGOTUS.

In an essay he wrote on 5 December 1891, entitled "Democracy" he wrote that liberty isn't found in freedom from the state but in one's obedience to the laws of the state. In an address to the Jefferson Club of Los Angeles on 12 May 1911, Wilson said that "if you want to understand the Declaration of Independence, do not repeat the preface". It was when I read this that I began to have a more clearer understanding of the thought process of liberals and progressives. Why does he command that the preface be omitted? It's because it addresses how our rights emanate from God and not man.

On 22 August 1887 he wrote in "Socialism and Democracy" that "socialism and democracy are almost if not quite one and the same. They both rest at bottom upon the absolute right of the community to determine its own destiny and that of its members." He then laid forth the principle that exists today among the left in the rights of the group over the rights of the individual when he says that "Men as communities are supreme over men as individuals. Limits of wisdom and convenience to the public control there may be: limits of principle there are, upon strict analysis, none." On 23 September 1912, Wilson remarked how Thomas Jefferson "said that the best government is that which does as little governing as possible. But that time has passed. America is not now and cannot in the future be a place for unrestricted individual enterprise."

Wilson hated the fact that each state had their own legislature describing this as a "serious" threat to the power that exists in Washington, and even went on to describe the then forty-eight governmental bodies as "evil". He encouraged all "grave, thoughtful and perspicacious men all around us" to "agree in deriding those 'Fourth of July' sentiments". Is anyone this beginning to sound familiar. It is the left who repeatedly denigrates those proudly displaying the flag and taking pride in our nation. Conversely, those on the right not only display the flag and take pride in our nation, but encourage all Americans to follow in their example.

The wish of liberals and progressives for the fall of our republic and Constitution isn't a new phenomenon. On 19 June 1876 Wilson wrote "The American Republic will in my opinion never celebrate another Centennial. At least under the present Constitution and laws." He was also quite prophetic when on 16 June 1876, he wrote that "The democRATs will be very likely to abuse power if they get it."

What liberals and progressives fail to understand is that liberty is a gift from God and not government or man. Conservatives not only understand this basic tenant of our founding documents, but we not only preach this fundamental truth, but live it as well. Liberals on the other hand, attempt to not only eliminate God and religion as a whole in our day to day lives, but to replace it with an alternate deity -- be it Al Gore and the hoax of global warming, the environmental whackos who want us to worship the earth, or the current occupant of the Oval Office who the lamestream media led by PMSNBC demand that we worship.

Finally, one thing Wilson said should have served as a warning for the democRATs this past Tuesday, and as a future warning for this falls elections. On 5 January 1911, at a lecture in Jersey City, New Jersey, he said that the democRAT party was an instrument to "serve the people, or take the consequences."

Congressman John Boehner comments on Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/20/2010 01:05:00 PM

"For nine months, I’ve talked to you about the political rebellion that’s been brewing in America. It manifested itself in August at town hall meetings around the country. We saw it manifest itself in what happened in Virginia and New Jersey back in November. And we saw it manifest itself again last night in Massachusetts, when the people of Massachusetts stood up and said, ‘enough is enough.’ And it’s pretty clear that while the American people continue to speak, the Democrat leadership here in this House continues to ignore them and is looking for some way to continue to press this health care bill to a vote.

"You’ve heard what the Speaker said yesterday and what the Majority Leader said, ‘we’re going to find some way to push this over the line.’ It’s that kind of arrogance that has the American people about ready to pull their hair out and about ready to throw every Democrat out of here. But we have to remember, this is not just about health care, it’s about the ‘stimulus’ plan that isn’t working, it’s about the cap-and-trade bill, it’s about the trillion-dollar deficits for as far as the eye can see. The American people want us to get the economy going again. Because they continue to ask the question, ‘where are the jobs?’ And what we need to do is get our economy going again and get the American people back to work."

Math 101: A lesson for Tom Beyerlein and the Dayton Daily News

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/17/2010 07:23:00 PM

The headline on the front page of the paper today reads "Obama's drop in approval rating is steepest since Truman". The data from an accompanying chart on page A9 tells a different story. From Harry S. Truman through Barack Hussein Obama only five Presidents have seen their approval ratings increase over a span of one year: Dwight Eisenhower (3%), John F. Kennedy (5%), Richard Nixon (2%), George H. W. Bush (29%), and George W. Bush (26%).

The remaining seven Presidents saw their approval ratings drop from Harry Truman who saw his approval rating go from 87% to 43% (a difference of 44%) to Ronald Reagan who saw his approval rating go from 51% to 49% (a difference of only 2%). For their claim of Obama suffering the "steepest" approval rating drop since Truman to be true, his drop in approval ratings would have to surpass that of Ford, Carter, Johnson, Clinton, and Reagan; but that isn't the case.

Here endeth the lesson.

Is Martin Gottlieb planning to run for Dayton School Board?

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/13/2010 05:18:00 PM

I ask the question because someone this ignorant of history would be an ideal candidate to shape the indoctrination of skulls full of mush in Dayton Government Schools. He idolizes Franklin Delano Roosevelt, one of this nations worst presidents. FDR's policies didn't put an end to the Depression, but extended it. For those paying attention to current events, does this sound familiar? Just like FDR, Obama is making the economy worse by employing the same tactics. An excellent video from Black Sphere Productions "showcases democRAT liberal icon FDR and the little known racist history surrounding him. Not to mention, FDR didn't give us The New Deal, he gave us The Raw Deal."

Gottlieb suggests that Republicans were opposed to abolition when in fact the opposite was true. The passage of the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854 was the catalyst for the creation of the Republican Party, who not only opposed the act, but sought to halt the expansion of slavery which democRATs were in favor of then, and still today as we continue to suffer from LBJ's "Great Society". The Republican Platform of 1856 included a section that stated that "it is both the right and the imperative duty of Congress to prohibit in the Territories those twin relics of barbarism -- Polygamy, and Slavery."

Just as Clement Vallandigham shot himself in trying to prove a point in a murder case, the editorial staff of the DDN shoot themselves in the foot time and time again in their ignorance to little pesky things like facts and historical truth. One commenter at the DDN page puts it well, "The democrat party should drop all reference to our founders and use more accurate historical figures: Marx, Alinsky, and Chamberlain." If asked, I'm sure Comrade Gottlieb would respond with a resounding "Da."

Kettering Recreation Center members concerned with sex offender

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/13/2010 05:16:00 PM

KETTERING, Ohio -- A tier three sex offender is a member of the Kettering Recreation Complex, and some of the facility’s patrons are wondering why he is allowed near so many women and children.

Current laws require Marc Hodapp, a man convicted of rape twice and abduction three times in the 1970s and 1980s, to register with local authorities every 90 days.

Because he was convicted decades ago, Hodapp is not subject to registration laws passed in 2007 and 2008 that would prevent him from living within 1,000 feet of schools and day cares.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office must notify schools, day cares and the community within 1,000 feet of Hodapp's home of his status.

No law exists that prevents Hodapp from being a member of the complex even though a day care is part of the facility.

Listing of Marc Hodapp at the Montgomery County Ohio Sheriff's Office

The Montgomery County Ohio Sheriff's Office offers the option for you to register to track Mark Hodapp.

Teacher at Northeastern High School (Springfield, Ohio) arrested on charges of sexual battery

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/11/2010 02:35:00 PM

A Northeastern High School teacher was arrested Monday, January 11, on charges of sexual battery for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a student, according to a press release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Anthony [Eugene] Parker, 36, is being held in the Clark County Jail on four counts of sexual battery. Officials discovered the alleged relationship after receiving a tip, according to the release.

Parker teaches social studies at Northeastern High School.

Deputies in Clark County said they have arrested a teacher who is accused of "inappropriate" contact with a juvenile.

On Dec. 28, deputies were notified of the possible "inappropriate" relationship between 36-year-old Anthony Parker and the student. Deputies worked with administration at Northeastern High School and they were able to quickly determine that the teacher and the student were meeting privately outside of school hours.

Investigators said then learned that the relationship was sexual in nature.

On Monday morning, Parker was taken into custody and questioned at the Clark County Jail. Parker was then charged with four counts of sexual battery and booked into the jail.

West Carrollton government schools asking for more money

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/09/2010 04:26:00 PM

West Carrollton Schools Superintendent Rusty Clifford announced that the district on May 4 will ask voters to pass the lowest new operating levy millage amount in the district’s history. Clifford made the announcement Wednesday night, Jan. 6, during the West Carrollton Board of Education meeting. He said the district will be asking voters to pass a three-year, 3.25-mill operating levy.

The levy will cost the owner of a $100,000 home $99.53 annually, said Ryan Sloan, district treasurer. The district also will ask voters on May 4 to renew a 6.5-mill operating levy that voters passed in May 2007.

Why should taxpayers be extorted out of more money for a district that is "at risk"?

Brit Hume: Jesus Christ - "two most explosive words in English language"

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/09/2010 04:24:00 PM

Fox News analyst Brit Hume says he doesn't regret urging Tiger Woods to become a Christian so the golfer can find forgiveness for marital infidelity.

Hume told CBN News that "Christianity is a religion for sinners -- and I think that Tiger Woods has an opportunity here, and my prayer would be that he would take it." Hume has been denounced for saying that he doesn't think the famous golfer's belief in Buddhism "offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Christian faith."

Brit Hume (news analyst)The longtime journalist said he wasn't surprised that the remark aroused controversy. "If you're trying to find the two most explosive words in the English language, those two words are 'Jesus Christ,'" he stated.

He recognizes that openly expressing faith in Jesus Christ offends a lot of people. "People rage about this," he said. "It's very offensive to those who don't share the faith, [and] it's offensive to some people who claim they do share the faith. This is to be expected, and it has been happening to people who proclaim their faith in Christ for as long as anybody can remember -- this is part of the deal."

Hume described how he became a Christian. "Eleven years ago, my son committed suicide," he shared. "And as you can imagine, it was absolutely devastating. And yet throughout that whole horrible time, I had this sense that God was there for me, that he would rescue me, that he would save me -- and he did."

The news analyst said he was deeply moved by the hundreds of letters of condolence he received after that tragedy. "I felt that I was seeing in them the face of God," he recalled, "and I felt that it was time for me now to face up to the Christian faith which I purported to belong to, and try to face up to the implications of what I purported to believe -- and I've been trying ever since."

For those who are offended at the mention of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I'm offended that you're offended.

Texas government school teachers warned against being "heterosexist"

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/04/2010 09:25:00 PM

Candidates for certification to teach in public schools in Texas are being told that they will be held accountable for any "heterosexist" leanings and must become agents working to change society, according to one candidate who was alarmed by the demands.

The applicant, who requested anonymity for fear of repercussions, told WND part of the teachings on multiculturalism required him to read several online postings about the issue inside the education industry.

One warns that "teachers and administrators must be held accountable for practices deemed to be racist, sexist, heterosexist, classist, or in any other way discriminatory." And a second warned that educators must not define education as the basic skills.

"How do we create a better world? How do we do more than simply survive? As educators, we must help people to become committed to social change," the article demanded.

The teacher candidate told WND the studies were mandated by the Region 10 service center for the public school educators' program.

Judge Andrew Napolitano: Health care is not a right

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/04/2010 09:23:00 PM

In the continually harsh public discourse over the President’s proposals for federally-managed healthcare, the Big Government progressives in both the Democratic and the Republican parties have been trying to trick us. These folks, who really want the government to care for us from cradle to grave, have been promoting the idea that health care is a right. In promoting that false premise, they have succeeded in moving the debate from WHETHER the feds should micro-manage health care to HOW the feds should micro-manage health care. This is a false premise, and we should reject it. Health care is not a right; it is a good, like food, like shelter, and like clothing.

What is a right? A right is a gift from God that extends from our humanity. Thinkers from St. Thomas Aquinas, to Thomas Jefferson, to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to Pope John Paul II have all argued that our rights are a natural part of our humanity. We own our bodies, thus we own the gifts that emanate from our bodies. So, our right to life, our right to develop our personalities, our right to think as we wish, to say what we think, to publish what we say, our right to worship or not worship, our right to travel, to defend ourselves, to use our own property as we see fit, our right to due process—fairness—from the government, and our right to be left alone, are all rights that stem from our humanity. These are natural rights that we are born with. The government doesn’t give them to us and the government doesn’t pay for them and the government can’t take them away, unless a jury finds that we have violated someone else's rights.

What is a good? A good is something we want or need. In a sense, it is the opposite of a right. We have our rights from birth, but we need our parents when we are children and we need ourselves as adults to purchase the goods we require for existence. So, food is a good, shelter is a good, clothing is a good, education is a good, a car is a good, legal representation is a good, working out at a gym is a good, and access to health care is a good. Does the government give us goods? Well, sometimes it takes money from some of us and gives that money to others. You can call that taxation or you can call it theft; but you cannot call it a right.

A right stems from our humanity. A good is something you buy or someone else buys for you.

Now, when you look at health care for what it is, when you look at the US Constitution, when you look at the history of human freedom, when you accept the American value of the primacy of the individual over the fleeting wishes of the government, it becomes apparent that those who claim that healthcare is a right simply want to extend a form of government welfare.

When I make this argument to my Big Government friends, they come back at me with…well, if people don’t have health insurance, they will just go to hospitals and we will end up paying for them anyway. Why should that be? We don’t let people steal food from a supermarket or an apartment from a landlord or clothing from a local shop. Why do we let them take healthcare from a hospital without paying for it? Well, my Big Government friends contend, that’s charity.

They are wrong again. It is impossible to be charitable with someone else’s money. Charity comes from your own heart, not from the government spending your money. When we pay our taxes to the government and it gives that money away, that’s not charity, that’s welfare. When the government takes more from us than it needs to secure our freedoms, so it can have money to give away, that’s not charity, that’s theft. And when the government forces hospitals to provide free health care to those who can’t or won’t care for themselves, that’s not charity, that’s slavery. That’s why we now have constitutional chaos, because the government steals and enslaves, and we outlawed that a long time ago.

Piqua vocational school teacher arrested after police find him in park with female student

Posted by DarthDilbert at 1/04/2010 09:11:00 PM

An Upper Valley Joint Vocational School teacher was arrested and charged with one count of sexual battery on Thursday, December 31.

Capt. Chris Anderson of the Troy Police Department said that Eric Williams, 32, was found alone with a juvenile female student inside a car at Duke Park after dark, when it was closed. Anderson said both Williams and the student came to the police department for questioning. The students was released to her parents.

Williams was booked into the Miami County Jail and is charged with sexual battery.

Anderson said he expects Williams to be arraigned on Monday.

I would strongly suggest that the powers that be at Upper Valley JVS reacquaint themselves with page 122 of the JVS Policy Manual concerning terminating employees for "sexual battery".
