"Straight Talk" express takes scenic route to truth

John McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm, conservatism and youth. Like McCain, pollsters assured us that Dole was the most "electable" Republican. Unlike McCain, Dole didn't lie all the time while claiming to engage in Straight Talk.
Of course, I might lie constantly too, if I were seeking the Republican presidential nomination after enthusiastically promoting amnesty for illegal aliens, Social Security credit for illegal aliens, criminal trials for terrorists, stem-cell research on human embryos, crackpot global warming legislation and free speech-crushing campaign-finance laws.
Remember that McCain's the candidate of amnesty for illegal aliens. He supports embryonic stem-cell research. He has said "I would not support repeal of Roe vs. Wade". He opposed the Bush tax cuts, and refuses to sign the "No New Taxes" pledge. He supports legislation that would increase taxes on energy. He was the ring-leader of the Senate "Gang of 14", which kept the then Senate Republican leadership from ending the ability of democRATs to filibuster the President's judicial nominees. He supports legislation to grant due-process rights to terrorists. He sponsored legislation which restricts free-speech rights of those involved in the political process (McCain/Feingold). He called evangelical-conservatives an "evil influence" on the Republican Party.
How much more do conservatives need to know?
